About
Welcome to Tiger Trail. You may wonder what Tiger Trail is, for which we have an explanation. No yarn this is, but an memoir of experience that we had a few years ago an experience so profound that we had to come back and share with the world. Read on! A long, long time ago, before you and I were born and during the 'Raj' the British went on trail across India to hunt the ever elusive tiger. Those trips across the subcontinent formed a pattern known as Tiger Trail. Years later, we decided to go on the same Tiger Trail, except with one big difference. We weren't out to hunt the tiger but to appreciate its beauty. Our tiger trails took us from the swamp lands of sunderbans in the east, to the deep forests of ranthambore in the west, and from the undulations of dudwa in the north to the depths of nagarhole in the south. To savor the same experience as the trailers of yesteryears, we stayed in the same forest lodges built for the British, watched deer frolic the greenery as if it were their personal backyard, sat by the camp fire while our guide cooked for us, and jumped in sheer delight on the very sight of a pug mark. Hours grew to days, days grew to weeks, and weeks became a month, and our anxiety grew to anguish and despair, as we hadnt seen a Tiger yet. We started to pack our bags from final sanctuary when we saw a herd of deer scamper as if they had seen a ghost. We hid in our jeeps from where we could spy on what was happening and, there she was. Rising from the marshes, like a Phantom moving towards its prey, looking ever so majestic was a tiger we had waited months to see. Our trail was over, as we had seen what we sought after. What happens next of course is another story, but our experience on the trail had led to this restaurant. As we could not bring home a Tiger as a souvenir from our trails in the wilderness, we decided to bring you the various cuisines of the region we trailed the Tiger. Memories of the various campfires we sat by with a guide cooking a meal for us made us create the open Hearth where our chef will be our guide, and you can create your meal to suit your taste. We do hope you enjoy our re-creation of our trip, the restaurant reminiscent of those forest lodges we stayed at, the cuisine adapted from what we ate across the country, and memorabilia we collected on our trip. Thank you for joining us in celebrating a truly magnificent animal The Tiger.
