The captain educates you well of the differences as well - amazing considering how many kebabs they have!
What was absolutely impressive was the finely shredded cabbage-beet-onion salad accompaniment with each kabab portion. The coriander-yogurt dip was also generously provided. I usually find when I order a whole lot of kebebs, the restau tend to skimp on the accompaniments or get their portioning ratio all messed up. Thsi was generous and exactly how it should be if I may add!
The unusual kebab for me was the Chicken Sultani Kebab - the turmeric gave it a nice golden tint and the flavors were rather reminiscent of a home made chk curry! I loved the moist texture - but the pieces were wildly cut and even had scraps of skin, while some had dry burns - possibly from bad cold storage? So delicious spice mix but meat quality had me pick on what was supposed to be simple finger food.
The other was Chk Shaahi Kebab - nothing much to write home about.
The Pahadi Seek Kabab was unable, thus I swapped for Boti Kebab - which was a hideous collection of burnt, dry, stringy but generous pieces of lamb.
I had checked with the captain if these would be tender kebabs and was assured so - had I been at the restaurant this dish would have seen its way into the kitchen.
Lamb & well made mutton kebabs still continue to be a rarity in Pune. I am forever looking and dont always come away pleased.
Now only if the Luxury hotel restaurants would open their door for Tasty Khana and home delivery - that might change things a bit for the home diner.
The rumali roti could have done with some more cooking - the nan did wonderfully.
The bummer: not all kebabs are available.
What worked for me in this meal: unusual flavors & each kebab portion had generous accompaniments
Would I order again - nope! Given the cuts used in the chicken kebabs and the tough lamb texture - I am happy off with Kareems with 40% lesser pricing, constant availability and quick service.
The order was inexplicably delayed by 40 mins or such, TK called in the next day apologised...but I couldnt care as this turned out a bummer of a meal anyway - even a timely delivery would not have salvaged it. Another option lost. Sigh! hide
